Apple newton handwriting recognition11/24/2023 ![]() "Despite the abysmal recognition accuracy in the first generation Newton, most Newton afficianados or people interested in handwriting recognition will tell you that the second generation, "Print Recognizer" in Newton OS 2.x was a vast improvement, offering fast and surprisingly accurate recognition. ↑ "Apple-Newton Handwriting Recognition"."iPadOS 14 brings Scribble to iPad with Apple Pencil, allowing users to write in any text field - where it will automatically be converted to typed text" ↑ "iPadOS 14 introduces new features designed specifically for iPad".It was officially discontinued with the release of macOS Catalina on October 7, 2019. In macOS 10.14 Mojave, Apple announced that Inkwell will remain 32-bit thus rendering it incompatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. Inkwell was developed by Larry Yaeger, Brandyn Webb, and Richard Lyon. The user can also force Inkwell to not interpret their writing, instead using it to paste a hand-drawn sketch into the active window. ![]() When the user stops writing, their writing is interpreted by Inkwell and pasted into the current application (wherever the active text cursor is), as if the user had simply typed the words. Inkwell, when activated, appears as semi-transparent yellow lined paper, on which the user sees their writing appear. However in iPadOS 14 handwriting recognition has been introduced, as a feature called Scribble. None of the touchscreen iOS devices – iPhone/iPod/iPad – has offered Inkwell handwriting recognition. Inkwell's inclusion in Mac OS X led many to believe Apple would be using this technology in a new PDA or other portable tablet computer. The technology made its debut as "Rosetta", an integral feature of Apple Newton OS, the operating system of the short-lived Apple Newton personal digital assistant. Introduced in an update to Mac OS X v10.2 "Jaguar", Inkwell can translate English, French, and German writing. and built into the Mac OS X operating system. Inkwell, or simply Ink, is the name of the handwriting recognition technology developed by Apple Inc.

1650 psi to atm11/24/2023 ![]() Production contracts for both aircraft were placed in 1936, and development of the PV-12 was given top priority as well as government funding. Both were designed around the PV-12 instead of the Kestrel, and were the only contemporary British fighters to have been so developed. Fortunately, two designs had been developed: the Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane the latter designed in response to another specification, F36/34. In 1935, the Air Ministry issued a specification, F10/35, for new fighter aircraft with a minimum airspeed of 310 mph (500 km/h). The Hart was subsequently delivered to Rolls-Royce where, as a Merlin testbed, it completed over 100 hours of flying with the Merlin C and E engines. became available, the engine was adapted to use a conventional liquid-cooling system. This proved unreliable and when ethylene glycol from the U.S. The engine was originally designed to use the evaporative cooling system then in vogue. The PV-12 was first run on 15 October 1933 and first flew in a Hawker Hart biplane ( serial number K3036) on 21 February 1935. Consequently, work was started on a new 1,100 hp (820 kW)-class design known as the PV-12, with PV standing for Private Venture, 12-cylinder, as the company received no government funding for work on the project. In the early 1930s, Rolls-Royce started planning its future aero-engine development programme and realised there was a need for an engine larger than their 21-litre (1,296 cu in) Kestrel which was being used with great success in a number of 1930s aircraft. Merlin engines remain in Royal Air Force service today with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and power many restored aircraft in private ownership worldwide.ĭesign and development Origin Production ceased in 1950 after a total of almost 150,000 engines had been delivered. The Packard V-1650 was a version of the Merlin built in the United States. Post-war, the Merlin was largely superseded by the Rolls-Royce Griffon for military use, with most Merlin variants being designed and built for airliners and military transport aircraft. A de-rated version was also the basis of the Rolls-Royce/Rover Meteor tank engine. One of the most successful aircraft engines of the World War II era, some 50 versions of the Merlin were built by Rolls-Royce in Derby, Crewe and Glasgow, as well as by Ford of Britain at their Trafford Park factory, near Manchester. Starting at 1,000 horsepower (750 kW) for the first production models, most late war versions produced just under 1,800 horsepower (1,300 kW), and the very latest version as used in the de Havilland Hornet over 2,000 horsepower (1,500 kW). A series of rapidly-applied developments, brought about by wartime needs, markedly improved the engine's performance and durability. The Merlin remains most closely associated with the Spitfire and Hurricane, although the majority of the production run was for the four-engined Avro Lancaster heavy bomber. The first operational aircraft to enter service using the Merlin were the Fairey Battle, Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire. ![]() Initially known as the PV-12, it was later called Merlin following the company convention of naming its four-stroke piston aero engines after birds of prey.Īfter several modifications, the first production variants of the PV-12 were completed in 1936. Andy kaufman elvis11/23/2023 ![]() His handwriting in general is a lot like people in society, he’s got a lot of good qualities and he has a couple of qualities that would make him tick differently. The most interesting thing about Andy Kaufman’s handwriting is not that this is the handwriting of a lunatic, because he really doesn’t. Also, people with bouncy baselines aren’t as anal-retentive or necessarily as rigid. Possibly a bit clumsy, we usually see this in people who choose to move in lots of different directions. ![]() ![]() Also a very bouncy baseline, which keeps him very busy in lots of different things. That’s the ability to focus and concentrate. His handwriting is fairly small, not really small, but there’s some focus there. Andy has lots of sharp point R’s, M’s and N’s, which is a sign of analytical thinking. But what you do find, is that he was a very bright guy. Now of course in 1969, they didn’t have a simple way to treat him. Now I don’t know anything about Andy Kaufman’s medical background, but based on what I’ve seen in the movie and the handwriting, I would not be surprised if he suffered from some sort of depression or manic depression. Now Andy Kaufman doesn’t show any suicidal nature here, homicidal maybe! (joking), but not suicidal. If this gets too out of control, if it gets so slanted and the end looks like a droopy spaghetti noodle, that’s a sign of suicidal nature. Well if the handwriting always slants down to the right where the right side of the paper looks almost tilted, that is a sign of depression. And likewise, language says things are looking up, things are getting brighter if we’re in an optimistic mood. For example, even through optimism and pessimism, our language says, “We’re feeling down.” With body language, we actually point our head down. It’s interesting that handwriting does reveal some of the same things in our body language and even in our language. Now the first thing you notice about Andy Kaufman’s handwriting is the entire baseline slants to the right and what that means is a sense of depression or dejection. He’s wrestling women, he’s cussing out audiences, he’s getting fired from Taxi (a famous sitcom here in America) and eventually ends up dying. So what occurs between 1969 when Andy is a freshman in college to 1979 ten years later, by all public accounts, is pretty crazy. One of those questions for example is the handwriting we’re looking at from 1969. We’re going to look at some of the things that we see in Andy Kaufman’s handwriting and it really explains some of his character and it also leaves a lot of questions to be answered. If you have not learned to analyze handwriting yet, it’s a pretty amazing science.
